Arne Vodder

Arne Vodder was born in Denmark in 1926. In 1951 Arne opened his own architectural studio with fellow architect Anton Borg, successfully designing approximately 1100 low-cost houses. After this, Vodder transitioned to designing furniture due to the international acclaim Denmark was receiving for it’s furniture throughout the 1950’s and 1960's.

Vodder's most famous furniture designs include a handleless rosewood sideboard with drawers, and Vodder's chaise longue produced by Bovirke. A signature characteristic of Arne's work is the lack of sharp edges on his furniture. Vodder worked with companies such as Fritz Hansen, Sibast, Cadovius, Nielaus, Erik Jorgenson, and Kircodan.
