Le Corbusier, Charles-Edouard Jeanneret
Le Corbusier was born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret in October 1887 in Switzerland. Jeanneret was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a small French-speaking industrial city just outside the Jura mountains obsessed with it's manufacturing of watches. At the age of 15 Le Corbusier attended a municiapal art school in his hometown which focused heavily on the applied arts involved in watchmaking. Three years later he attended the higher course of decoration, founded by painter Charles L'Eplattenier who was responsible for making him choose architecture as a focus for his studies. It was at this point René Chapallaz, an architect who heavily influenced Ke Corbusier's earliest designs, began teaching him.
